who is bobby?

Meet our Production Manager and Grower Relations guru, Bobby.  He’s full of fun vegetable and farming facts, one of our go-to resources for product related questions, and most importantly, dedicated to agriculture.

Bobby grew up on the farm his dad managed. He started working in agriculture at a young age holding various positions doing anything “everyone else didn’t want to do” such as stomping cotton, packing down trailers of harvested cotton, harvesting onion seed and sugar beets, processing produce crops, moving sprinkler pipe and night irrigating, weeding and thinning row crops, and bailing hay – basically, he’s done it all. Bobby’s hard work in agriculture may have started on the farm, but he carried that love onto college, where he majored in Agribusiness with a minor in Agronomy at Cal Poly, Pomona. He’s now been in the agriculture industry for more than 40 years, which has brought on “40 different years of experience.”

What does bobby do at Pacific?

Bobby has spent 17 years of his career here at Pacific. On any given day, he can be found walking fields, most likely celery, romaine, and other lettuces, to ensure the best produce Mother Nature has to offer is being provided. Walking the fields is an important piece of what Bobby does. It allows him to see if harvest should be sped up or slowed down and checked on for pest pressure that may need to be managed. Once this information is gathered, it allows for communication with the Harvest Managers, PCAs (Pest Control Advisers), Commodity Managers, and Sales Team. As the seasons change, Bobby follows our produce from the Salinas Valley in California to Yuma, Arizona, where he ensures the same effort and passion is put into each crop.

Why is bobby so special to us?

Bobby believes “there is nothing more satisfying and gratifying than growing food.”  The next time a Pacific or Pure Pacific Organic vegetable is purchased, know that it was grown, harvested, and packed with the oversight of someone who is dedicated to providing high-quality produce and loves every second of it.
