OUR sTORY

OUR ROOTS

Pacific was started in the late 1980s by Dave Johnson and Tom Russell with a shared a passion and vision on how to supply the nation with quality, fresh produce. They planted their roots in Salinas, California, and within a few years our family of growers developed. Then, in the 1990s, we began offering organic produce from a small, 320-acre ranch in Fort Ord, California.

Today, our grower-centric program stretches across Central and Southern California, into Yuma and Maricopa County, Arizona, and down to Mexico. Our regional diversity allows us to supply you a year-round supply of fresh, quality produce. Our product is supplied from approximately 25,000 acres of conventional produce and 6,000 acres of organic produce, with new growing opportunities every year. As our company has evolved, we integrated into different parts of the agriculture chain. Our close relationship with our growers ensures that we fulfill our promise of providing the best produce to our customers straight from the fields.

OUR PEOPLE

Since our inception, Pacific has always been an employee-owned company. Several of our key sales and management team members are decision-makers in our day-to-day operations. Pacific’s success and quality of our produce stems from the hard work and dedication of our employees - many of which have been with the company for 15 to 20 years. Today, we see the next generation coming in with fresh and innovative ideas, including Wils Johnson (Dave’s son), who joined the company as General Manager of the Santa Maria region in February of 2017.

Through the strength of our leadership team (Dave and David), grower partnerships, the loyalty of our employees, and the transition to the next generation, we can stay committed to supplying you with the safest, freshest, and best produce that Mother Nature can offer straight from the fields - carrying on the tradition we were founded on.
